International Teachers

  • Must be a non-U.S. citizen.
  • Requires a minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience as a lead teacher at K-12 schools outside the U.S. in a role related to the position applied for.
  • Must demonstrate English proficiency.
  • Must seek to come to the United States temporarily for the purpose of teaching full-time and sharing their culture in an accredited primary or secondary school.
  • Must be currently teaching at the time of application, or, if not, must have had at least two years of full-time teaching experience within the past eight years and be pursuing an advanced degree in education or the relevant subject area, or have obtained such a degree from outside the U.S. within the 12 months prior to application.
  • Must meet the qualifications for teaching in primary or secondary schools in their country of nationality or previous legal residence.
  • Must possess at least the equivalent of a 4-year U.S. bachelor’s degree in education or the subject to be taught, along with a formal credential evaluation of the degree demonstrating U.S. equivalency.
  • Must satisfy the teaching standards of the U.S. state in the state of placement (including obtaining state licensing where required).
  • Must have a formal written offer from an accredited U.S. primary or secondary school.
  • Must be of good reputation and character.
